After working non – stop for a month; we decided to head to Shahapur for a relaxing weekend. What we were looking for was a place that was something close to nature, serene and peaceful.
We chose Shahapur as our weekend getaway this time as it is close to Mumbai and travel time is between 2-3 hours depending upon day and time of visit.
We were kind of looking for a place to connect with nature. Relax, rejuvenate, enjoy and have a great time.
We chose a farm stay this time. It was close to the lake and had tons of greenery around. There were trees with seasonal fruits, bushes laden with flower and a spice garden. All beautifully looked after.
As our resort was river touching (Batsa river); we saw sun rise and sun set each day.
I must say the weather was extremely pleasant. Very conducive to long drives.
Shahapur is a town in Thane district in Maharashtra. It is surrounded by the Western Ghats. It has also emerged as tourist attraction with trekking routes, ecotourism resorts, and rock climbing opportunities. Tourist places nearby Mahuli Fort, Manas Mandir, Tansa Lake.
Since we as a family do not enjoy a lot of outdoor sports; we did not try trekking and rock climbing.
Weather here is pleasant for most part and there are sufficient eateries to satisfy everyone’s palate. Both local and chains.
All in all Shahapur is a great place for a quick weekend when you are pressed for time yet want to rewind and rejuvenate.
