Having stayed all my life in Mumbai; I have not experienced harsh winters of the north. As Mumbai experiences maritime climate since it’s along the shoreline of Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal respectively. So, the sea tones down extreme climatic conditions….. The breeze blows over the sea and land, as a result Mumbai experiences less severe summer and winters.
But some days, the temperature does drop and we do get to experience “chills and cold”. On those days, winter can be dull and drab, but there are some aspects of cold weather that I really don’t mind. The two words that come to mind when I think about winters are “warm” and “cozy”.
In the winter months, there’s nothing quite like coming home to a warm and cozy house to relax.
A place that’s very welcoming.
Your safe place.
Some of it depends on your style and preferences. It’s more like a new evening routine but for colder days.
I use these five ways to stay warm and cozy in winters.
Get the right PJ’s
While that lacy number might look good on you, it’s won’t help you stay warm at night. A comfortable pajama and t-shirt goes a long way to make your feel comfortable and at home.
Take care of your feet
The first and foremost thing you should do to keep your body warm is to make sure no heat escapes through your feet. Wear socks if you’re finding it very cold.
Nothing feels more welcoming than soft, warm glow of a candle on a cold night after a long and tiring day. Dim the lights and light some candles. The soft, warm glow is like a warm and cozy blanket for your room.
It just can’t be any blanket for me. The perfect cozy blanket is soft and at the same time large enough to wrap around and keep me warm. Cuddling up under a warm and cozy blanket on a cold night with a warm drink and good book is heaven.
The perfect addition to go with a cozy blanket and the soft, warm glow of candles is a book. Reading more is one of my goals for this year. A good book can carry you away in to a dream world and help you relax.
Is there anything better than curling up under a cozy blanket with a hot drink? I think not! A warm drink like coffee, tea or hot chocolate is a perfect in cold climate. And delicious too.
